33 Circus Lions Return Home To Africa After 18-Month Rescue Effort

Thirty-three former circus lions finally get a taste of freedom in the African sun after a rescue effort by Animal Defenders International.

After spending their entire life in traveling circuses, mistreated and abused by their owners, the lions will live out the rest of their days in peace at Emoya Big Cat Sanctuary in Vaalwater, South Africa.

The rescue effort took 18 months to accomplish, and of the 100 animals saved, 33 were lions.
